CEREAL @ Heinen’s

These items found recently on the shelf at Heinen’s! Organic and Gluten free!

Look for the labels on the upper left corner of the box.

The frosted flakes are a bit too sweet for my taste but mixing the frosted corn flakes with the unfrosted corn flakes – 1:1 – was the perfect combination.

If you give them a try let us know what you like best or what does not work.

Check out the Cafe

With a commitment to healthy dishes, artisanal beverages, locally roasted coffee, locally sourced teas, locally baked breads and pastries, local procured dairy and produce sourced locally whenever possible!

Stopped at the Cafe today to grab a smoothie, many on the menu to pick from, along with a ‘create your own’. Requested banana, pineapple, coconut yogurt and orange juice. Super creamy and tasty! Also tried the Protein Power Bowl. Seasoned rice base with kale, tomato, feta and chopped chicken (tempeh option offered). Everything was wonderfully fresh, beautifully presented and super tasty!

The shop carries dry goods, supplements, produce, bottled beverages and much more. Check it out! If your friends choose another dining option from one of the other local vendors you can take your order to go and all share a table at the Market Hall. Across the street – Mitchell’s Ice Cream – what could possibly be better?

BEECHER’S “World’s Best Mac & Cheese”

FOUND: Gluten free Beecher’s Mac & Cheese available in the frozen foods department at Heinen’s.

Instructions on the box include preparation for oven baking and microwaving. I chose to preheat the oven to 375, separate the frozen block from its package, transfer the frozen product to a pyrex baking dish, covered and baked 30 minutes. I did check it after 20 minutes and mixed it all up a bit to even out the heating, then allowed it to finish the last 10 minutes. The pasta was nicely al dente, cheesy and a bit spicy.
